2.0 8V Turbo Running Omex Idle To Revving Probs

Recommended Posts

Tom_Gallington06

I have been building a turbo car for a while now. I have got it to the stage of starting and I have got it idling but when I throttle it that sounds like its going to die and then when I let go of the throttle if idles fine again. Any ideas what could be wrong? I have calibrated the tps so that should be fine.

The engine spec is

2.0 8v bottom end

Gti-6 mls head gasket

Gti head, inlet and throttle body

Turbo technics ex mani

Garret gt25r turbo

Saab 2.3 turbo injectors

3.5 bar fuel pressure reg

Omex ecu and loom

Gizzmo electronic boost controller

Just thought i would put the spec up as it may help.

Thanks Tom

To get my MI16 to idle I spent a hour on the phone with Omex tech support who where very helpful. I then booked it in for a rolling road session to get it to run properly up to the rev limit for me to run the new engine in (1000 miles). Then back on the rolling road for the full set up. If Omex have supplied you a start up map it will do just that and not much else.

Ok cool. I may try giving them a call tomorrow and see if they can give me a little adjustments to do maybe. Just want to get it running ok. To be fair I'm not 100% of the ht leads on the coil. As in which lead goes on which connection on the coil pack. Thanks though.

If you have the HT leads on incorrect it wont idle. have you checked all your boost piping and vac lines are correctly connected as this would stop that. had the same issue on a polo 20vt conversion i was doing, idled fine but will not rev, turned out one of the injectors wasnt working properly and the vac lines where not plummed in correctly.

What TPS do you have on your GTI throttle body? If it is the original it won't work.
