Wheel Bolts For The 1.6 Alloys

Recommended Posts

gingerdave

HI all, hope you don't mind a humble XS driver encroaching in your domain.

Basically I am fitting the 14" alloys from the 1.6 GTi to my XS as I prefer the look. I was hoping to use the same wheel bolts from the XS steelies but they look a bit short and a search round the web suggests the correct bolts are flat.

Now the local garage quoted 140 quid, and ebay offers a set of 16 for 110.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLOY-WHEEL-BOLTS-FOR-PEUGEOT-106-205-206-306-309-405-960587-X-16-OE-PART-/330731049036?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item4d011b504c

There are these on ebay, but only 3..

So what I'd like to know is

a) What bolts can I safely use

and

B) where can get them from that won't cost an arm, a leg, and another major organ.

Cheers

As an idea, these "extra long" bolts are much cheaper, 15.49 for 8.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-206-306-205-etc-Flat-Seat-extra-long-wheel-bolts-50mm-set-of-8-/221068957329?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3378bc9691

Could i simply use those, or get my garage to trim them a little?

A) any pre 98 ish flat seated peugeot/citroen bolt will do, the correct ones are a long head as piscured to suit the deep holes, but the shorter headed 1.9 bolt will also work fine (same as found on cyclones, 106's, saxo's, xsara's etc)

B ) try the for sale section, or post a wanted ad up, or get down to a local breakers.

Cool cheers, by way of example, are these any use? They have a shank (possibly not the correct term) before the flat seat so may not be appropriate?

Does it need to go completely flat above the thread?

e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-SAXO-PEUGEOT-106-VTR-VTS-GTI-ALLOY-WHEEL-NUTS-BOLTS-WASHER-FLAT-SEATED-/261147140581?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item3ccd9521e5

Apologies for all the ebay links, just want to be sure what I'm trying to get hold of.

The first type linked to is the later style of wheel bolt used, not compatible with the older wheels, utilised so a standard taper type steel wheel could be used, the hole in the alloy was larger over the first 10-15mm to give space for the taper, but they still seat on the flat face.

The Saxo bolts will work, though for some reason are not chrome plated like most, will be a little bit of a faff with the shorter head but a deep socket will help.

You really are making this difficult for yourself, when a wanted post on here would have sourced some quickly enough.

For simplicities sake, I've got a full set of proper 1.6 GTi wheel bolts if you want some rather than those tatty rusty looking Saxo bolts.

£25 including postage for the whole set, so the same cost as those rusty Saxo bolts too.

Cheers Anthony, I was a little confused by the different levels of membership, passenger, driver pitcrew etc, I thought I read somewhere I couldn't start a topic n the for sale/wanted section until I was a driver?

I'm very keen on your full set of bolts, do you want to do this through paypal or similar?

Any registered member (even those with "Passenger" status such as yourself) should be able to post Wanted adverts. You won't be able to sell parts though.

I'll drop you a PM now to sort out these wheel bolts anyhow :)
