So I nipped to the garage today where the 205 will be transformed and removed the engine oil and gearbox oil aswel as the drive shafts unfortunately the lad who's garage it is was ill and had to go home so I didn't get chance to do much more but hopefully will tomorrow

However I went home and spent all day polishing the face of the inlet which was very hard but the results ain't half bad , not perfect but not bad at all

20150201_214112_zpswwi6vh1k.jpg

I even removed the raised codes on the bottom

So time to update , a change of plan meant that I had to paint the engine bay first and put the engine back in and then move it to another location for the shell painting .

So the car had be left for a few months without being touched and was a sorry sight .

20150619_115247_zpscgsgwcn3.jpg

20150619_115259_zpsmu5ielm4.jpg

But managed to get things moving with abit of rust killing

20150619_184436_zps0ilb1elg.jpg

Then gave the bay it's final clean up and removed the subframe and got the usual nasty inner wing rot cut out and welded up

20150621_144004_zpsngplb5cn.jpg

20150621_144010_zpscezklybn.jpg

Masked up ready to go

20150621_205846_zpso3pxq4za.jpg

And then a few coats of high build primer

20150621_212521_zpse9rtkvuq.jpg

Then a stunning alpine white

20150621_222226_zpsweer2es8.jpg

After this is was time to pop a few things back in and I treated her to a full set of brake lines for the engine bay

20150623_160455_zpsmscl7gvp.jpg

Engine back in

20150624_105847_zpsgfdm9ox1.jpg

Then she was moved to a new location and it was time to start the body prep . Main bad rusty was the usual rear quarter to sill issue , mine made worse by some idiot cutting out the rear arch at some point in its life and it was flimsy and bent near the wheel but I dug out all the sealant and the rust and made a start .

20150625_093843_zpsdul6khdc.jpg

Using an expense flexible fibreglass and the. Filler I clean it up .

20150625_233455_zpsolifwx8v.jpg

And then for safety a dazzled abit of rust kill over it before high build priming just for extra protection

20150630_193915_zps3pqo0ilp.jpg

There was more things to contend with but she's currently sat in primer and half flatted down will update once painted in a few days time here are pics as she is now

So after a full days work I got to the workshop at around 11.30pm and stayed rill around 5am to get the old girl painted once again in her orginal alpine white .

20150705_050925_zpsg1h0htts.jpg

20150705_050946_zpshe1zcuug.jpg

She will be returning home tommorrow where I will slowly paint the rest of the bits in my workshop and flat and buff her . It's been a long hard few months in which I've not stopped and virtually done all myself (not bad for a chef) , however this may well be one of my last updates and due to complete lack of interest I feel it's getting pointless to update .

Thanks buddy , I've still got grill bonnet one wing and both verlances, all trims to be painted smooth gloss black etc , wheels I need to paint gunmetal grey and polish the lips .

Slam panel, bonnet hinges etc quite a few bits still to do but I don't have to rely on anyone but myself now so it will be done .

I'm also going to take carpet out and re underlay and fully clean the carpet also etc .

The car will look sweet when you've done, and from what I've seen across the two forums your pretty handy with a spray gun and polishing ally

Keep it up and for one I'm interested to see what you do with her

Don't stop updating the thread :)

Certainly I'm reading with interest and I'm sure that plenty of others are too, just I don't have anything to add that would enrich the thread so I've not been replying - doesn't mean that I'm not reading though and impressed at the way that you've tackled the bodywork head on when most (myself included!) wouldn't have had the guts to try painting the whole car outselves like you have.

Thanks Anthony , I've taught myself a lot over the last few years bodywork wise and while I can assure you the car won't be split mint , it will certainly look good for its age , and this is the first full respray I've ever done. So be keen to see how good she looks after a good flat and buff .

Sweet buddy , well we have a carpet cleaner and that does a good job so my plan was to give it a good going over with that and then was going to look to see if their was any (fabric restoring) products to sort any bits that may not come up too well etc .

I wouldnt bother trying the carpet cleaner, i didnt think my carpet was bad until i got the power washer on it and manky puddles just kept appearing and appearing until the water eventually ran clear. Just go easy until you find how close you can go with the nozzle. If you've not got a washer take it to a car wash!

It brings it up all piley again, like new. The fabric spray sorts out any fading, but be warned you don't get much in a tin, so best use it in a garage out the wind.

I did the centre console too with the washer, and all interior plastics, then covered with Auto Finesse Revive, and then wrapped them in clingfilm until i was ready to fit them. My interior looks well.

You should maybe think of hiring a washer for a day or keep an eye out for one in Aldi's.
