1993 1.9 Cat Engine Flywheel

Recommended Posts

After some advise on the flywheel on my 93 barn find. I will put a new clutch in it whilst restoring it and with it being a cat engine with the other management, is it a standard flywheel ?

I ask as on my old 1.9 8v engine from my cti Has a 1.6 flywheel on it. I'm thinking of installing the 1.6 flywheel as its lighter whilst the gear box is off :)

I noticed it made a difference on the old engine so seems a waste to leave it on a engine I have sat on a pallet .

Reminds me I must sell those bits left over from my gti6 conversion !

Thanks in advance, Damon.

If it's a 205 1.9 GTi CAT then it will need a flywheel with the 60-2 Motronic timing teeth on, which regular 1.6 and 1.9 GTi's (without CAT) don't have.

I may be wrong but I think the motronic flywheel is lighter than the 1.9 one anyway so it isn't as much of a saving as all that.
