Recommended Posts

kyepan

Thought it would be nice for everyone to share their RR graphs, List peak power, torque, engine , capacity, and a brief summary of any engine performance modifications you might have.

I'll start off.

Power - 169HBP

Torque - 138 Ft LBS

Engine - 1905cc Mi-16

Peter T stage 1 cam / chip Standard 3 row ecu, standard Manfiold / Exhaust.

Post any you have, or any you know the above info about, i've spent some time hunting about for them and have been looking at other forums who seem to usually have a thread like this.

How about a modified 1.9 8v that only appears to be making standard power?

20120126_dyno.sized.jpg

That's a Skip Brown GTi-S spec 1.9 8v (so flowed head, hotter cam etc) with a K&N induction kit, standard exhaust, and Jetronic <_<

Not immediately clear what - if anything - is up with it, but it's certainly a few horses down on what you'd realistically expect (let alone the unrealistic claimed figures) assuming that the rolling road is accurate, which it did appear to be for other cars done at the same time/place (including Justin's at the top of the page)

It certainly made more a few years back in all other RR tested, including Emerald's one which is supposed to be accurate.

After buying it back it didn't feel the same though, not sure why.

Ditto, I hadn't driven a 205 for a long time then and was used to something faster but still.

I guess you have compression tested it and all is well?

Could it need a "new"/remanufactured distributor or the cam timing has been messed up by the previous guy who did the cambelt change?

The torque curve is different compared with the past as well.

When I drove it last time we were at yours it drove a lot better than when I got it for the second time in 2008 though.

Here is a graph from my old engine.

Stock 1.9 mi16 XU9J4Z, light skim on the head and diy exhaust manifold.

Max power: 158 hp at 6819 rpm

Max torque: 174 Nm at 6120 rpm (Actually small spike in the original graph. Torque curve is dead flat between 5100-6200)

It's not worth getting too hung up on rolling road results, they are nothing like as accurate or comparable as people like to think they are. Once you know and understand how they work, you'll not trust them again; until then, the farce continues!

I'm not saying they're a total waste of time, or that we shouldn't share them etc, just that you can't rely on the same rollers to define small circa 5% margins that often get discussed. They variables at work can account for more than that even in the same session and the operator can deliberately or accidentally skew the results with ease.

i hear you, i'm more interested in where the engines are making torque and what the curves look like, than the actual figures themselves.

Finally got a pic of one of my Graph's, This is what I class as a easy budget build of a XU10J4 engine, Which is standard bar a recon head fitted 4 years ago.

1. Omex 600 ECU

2. 45mm Jenvey Bodies (Short trumpets due to no room)

3. Cat Cams 4900527

4. Long Inlet manifold (Thanks to Colin S)

5. GTi6 Injectors

6. My 4-2-1 Exhaust manifold and matching system

Nice power and torque figures, the torque surprised me most peak of

207 bhp @ 6800

179 ft lb @ 5600

As we know figures are just that, But having done quite a few car's here the figures are good, Example 3 std GTi's on bodies (Jenvey set ups) make 175bhp.

We could of got to around 210bhp I would think playing around with the timing but for the sake of a couple of BHP with time & £££ we left it as is and the limit is very safe due to the std engine format.

I'm doing a similar set up on a 306 over the coming weeks so it will be interesting to see the difference as the 306 has had head work, good or bad who knows yet.

It will have slightly longer trumpets over the 205 thou

Here's my latest one with the overlay of when I had the GTI-6 inlet / Emerald mapped 2 years previous, so you can see the comparison.

1.9 Mi16

2x re profiled 262 cams

45mm Jenvey throttle bodies

Emerald M3

Miles 4-2-1 manifold, the rest is standard.

GTI-6 injectors

194bhp @ 7244rpm

151lbft @ 6263rpm
