Knackered after today, just had a look though at the car & the matt finish (even though primer) looks good, I think the look will have to be matt black, red buckets & cage and black alloys with a red lip.

Doing the front bumper the same way as the back (splicing the two together so that the existing mounts can be used):

24fimb7.jpg

Riveted together just to test fit:

e9ycrm.jpg

As per the back one this will involve quite a bit of fiberglass and filler to get right:

2ccqpmh.jpg

Also will require additional fixings to keep it straight:

2z9ek5s.jpg

2z7iy3s.jpg

The major problem will be the final ride height as even with the suspension right at the top (no interior, doors, etc) there is not much clearance at the bottom of the bumper:

Soo much respect for what you're doing mate! I too fantasised about a cheap fibreglass dimma kit....not anymore. I couldn't do half of what you have achieved. Keep up the great progress!

Struggling on the wheels at the moment, the plan is to get the body there about's right and then start on the suspension (ride height) and wheels that could then be fitted. Defo sold on the stealth (matt black) look as all had been considered (Kawasaki green, rally style white, etc), any ideas on wheels greatly appreciated. cheers.

Hi, thanks for the comments, apology's for the lack of updates at the moment, due to having to work last weekend I have not had much to update, back on the job this weekend weather permitting. Hoping to get the front bumper straight and with additional mounts to stop it moving.

I'm back, moved house, new garage, finally got the house and the garage finished so can get back on with the car. Primed roof, bonnet, tailgate and a door. Watch this space for updates.

Decided to do the passenger door, the bottom is unfortunately covered in fiberglass resin due to a bit of carelessness while doing the side skirts. Also there's a small dent halfway down. The bottom of the door has been attacked with a dremel in an attempt to get the worst of the resin off (not a good idea).

Rubbed down with very rough paper.

Prepared the dent.

Skimmed all with filler.

Rubbed it all down with 400.

Not enough filler.

Refilled and sanded again with 400.

Sanded all down with 800.

Primed.

That's it for today.

Bin the spoiler its awful

I think it might look ok when it's finished as the car will be kawasaki green and the front grill, roof spoiler and wheels will be black. Did some more work on the spoiler to tidy it up.

After roughly filling, sanded down to shape up.

Need to get the base absolutely flat and smooth so that I can put the joining tape on.

That's definitely it for today.

After a lot of head scratching I decided to bite the bullet and do it the right way, to do a better job of the paint I have removed the tailgate, windscreen, sunroof and the sticky on bits around the door frames.

2n1rxmv.jpg

Also, forgot removed wipers and the plastic bit (no rust at all under here).

svrygx.jpg

At least now can do a proper spray job under the rubber and sunroof (bit of a worrier getting the windscreen out, but it came out in one piece).

mn0w9i.jpg

Also removed the headlining and sound proofing material.

r8a7ns.jpg

Gave inside a bit of a clean, on the last stages of prep before a top to bottom respray (Kawasaki green with black highlights).

great job u are doing my only concern is the amount of filler being used i think you may have cracking issues I know when I refit my dimma kit im going to do most of the repairs in fiberglass and try and limit amout of filler. Im sorry but adding colour to that spoiler is not going to make it look any better.

Thanks for the complement, I cannot get around the filler issue but as the skimming of the door demonstrates I seem to put too much on and then spend the rest of the day sanding. I have a mixed view on the spoiler but as it came for free with the dimma body kit and will add the compromising colour (black) to the Kawasaki green I will give it a go.

Just finished working on the car, rubbed down the original primer with 400's on the roof, bonnet and all the pillars. Re-primed it with grey etch primer. Have ordered base coat (Kawasaki green) and lacquer, hope to get the grill, bonnet and roof in green at the end of this week. Will post the pics of Today's work tomorrow.

Lookiing good, you might want to go up to 600 grit min for a solid colour which im assuming the green is, matallic colours would need to go up to 1000 even 1200! depending on the flake size.

i will be following this for now on.

Thanks for the comments, paint turned up today and T-Cut, as the expert advice I have received is to put the base coat on (which can't be sanded) and then lacquer (which can be sanded with 2000) and then T-Cutted to a shine?

The last time I sprayed a car it was with a compressor and cellulose which seemed less complicated. I will do the bonnet first for a trial run, will post pics soon as.
