Mi Running On?

Recommended Posts

daneldridge23

Hi guys

I got my engine finaly started, starts fine and idles ok

the only thing is that when i rev it, it runs on for a couple of seconds?

i have checked the throttle cable etc, maybe its over fueling?

its on jenveys on an omex 600. its ecu came out of a running mi with the same bodies so the map shouldnt be a mile away i hope.

any ideas if i can adjust something in the ecu?

hi

its not mapped on my particular engine no, but came of a running car so i cant imagine it would be like a base map from omex?

the engine is rebuilt completly and im not aware of any air leeks

I think he means that when he dips the clutch to change gear ( For eg ) the engine continues to stay at a similar rev and not drop back like normal..?

I think he means that when he turns the ignition off, the engine stutters a few times before stopping instead of just stopping. A common feature of old carb engines before they started fitting 'anti-dieseling' valves to them. As you say sounds like its running rich. Does it do it warm and cold? I would check/swap the ecu temp sender. Are you running a wideband lambda by any chance? If so you should be able to check the mixture. Check that omex is set to cut the fuel off throttle too.

Cheers for the replys

Cams closest, basicaly when I rev the engine instead of it droping back at a steady pace to idle, it stays at a higher rev for a few moments then drops back to idle??

ah, so the revs are hanging, rather than running on.

the term running on usually implies that the engine be it petrol or diesel fuel carries on running after the ignition is turned off.

your issue is likely to be throttle position sensor or air leak related, your best bet is to get it to a rr for mapping.

Hi Dan,

Just to clarify, the ECU was running a base map provided by Spoox.

This was enough to get the car running, although it was overfuelling slightly, as I mention to you.

I never encountered any problems with the revs hanging. Have you re-calibrated the TPS because with the linkages coming off then back on, the TPS settings are likely to be slightly out.

I would say that's the std map from Omex then, the TPS map does depend on where the original (Base map) was set so even if you set unless you match it to the map it will always be out.

I've got a map here which you can try if you PM me your email address, I'll see if I can send it over

As for mappers, give Omex a call and see who they suggest unless you fancy a trip down here
