[Engine_Work] Miami Blue 205Gti, 2.0 8V Turbo Project

Recommended Posts

Ryan_g1

Hello, I'm Ryan. Just recently joined after purchasing my first 205 in November. This is after being told for about 7 years to buy a Peugeot.

Anyway, I've only got one picture of the 205, the day after I lowered it. I shall get some more of it tomorrow when I'm back at work. (hope this is the right size)

IMG_0505.jpg

It's a 1990 on a G registration limited edition with leather as standard. It was completely standard when I got it, all I've changed is the rear lights, front indicators, lowered it and my alpine head unit.

After being in a friends 205 turbo many years ago, I knew what my plan was straight away, turbo power. I sourced a 406 Sri turbo for pennies, luckily my boss had one that he didn't need any more, result. Only problem is its needing a turbo because it's smokey.

I have the engine out of the 205, got an mi16 engine mount for it today. Just need to get the engine out of the 406 now.

I don't know if anyone on here will know/remember any of the pugs I helped build in some way, which made me get one of these cracking cars one day

Well I've done some bits and bobs to the 205.

I gave the engine bay a quick degreasing, as it was covered in grease and dirt.

Sorry for the poor quality pics.

This was it before

And an after pic

I was planning on using the I/c off of my old Corsa turbo. So I offered her up into place

It fits pretty nicely in there. But fitting the boost pipes may be a bit of a problem because of where the outlets are on the I/c

There quite tight behind the front valance. So I'm on the look out for a slightly smaller in length one.

This was it when I left work tonight hiding in its corner. I got my mi16 clutch today. Only to realise I need a flywheel too! So this has held up production again.

I fitted the engine about 3 months ago. I've not done anything with the 205 lately, apart from moving it to my work to the garage at my house. As always, I ended up bored at 12 today so I decided to start on the wiring loom.

I wasn't happy with where the Ecu was going to sit, so I decided to open up the wiring loom, and re route it completely. This was it trial fitted, in the process of extending what wires needed done.

After a few tins of gas for the soldering iron, this was how it was looking, now with the 205 gauge wiring fitted.

And inside, still not finished though, got the keypad to wire in next. It will be a nightmare as 4 of the wires have been ripped out of the back of the keypad.

That's all for just now, hopefully have lots more progress tomorrow

Well I had another chance after work to do some more to the 205. I got the fuel lines made up and plumbed in, need an in line fuel filter and that's the fuelling side sorted.

As my engine was from a 406, the sump needed bits cut off it, luckily enough my spare engine was from an xm, so I swapped the sumps over. Fitted the boost pipe and intake pipe to the turbo.

It's getting there now, hopefully have it running for the middle of next week, if all goes well it should be seeing the road mid January!

I was having a chuckle to myself about your username Richard lol

I'm ok with getting to work, it's only 2 streets away so I can just walk, although I've got my Nurburgring Corsa, I'd much rather use the 205.

Had a quick 30 mins to spare there. So I connected up the wiring loom and tried to start it, just to make sure the look I've made is ok. First turn and she burst into life, getting there with it now. Just need boost pipes, exhaust and some daft other wee bits now. I tried to upload a video but it keeps failing.

Good stuff Ryan!

I couldn't start my turbo engine due to a terminal which had come off the starter solenoid, but when I turned the key the dash sprang into life. I'll be refitting the solenoid and turning the key with everything in place sometime around the start of Jan:)

Well after selling the 205 and buying it back again as the boy couldn't get it going I have it back. Got some new wheels for it today, they are needing a refurb but I think they look great on the car. I also gave the leather a good conditioning. Hoping to get it to my work tomorrow to get some work done over the holiday period.

Well I got a wee bit more done to the pug today. I got the intercooler fitted, cut and fitted the front valance and started to fit the radiator.

I know the intercooler will be a marmite one. But it's certainly going to get enough cold air out there.

Hopefully get some more done tomorrow. I'm looking to make a start on fabricating my own alloy boost pipes.

Got the new exhaust fitted today, looks much better as it's for a 205 instead of that thing I had made for it. I also removed the turbo as it's leaking oil from the exhaust housing of the turbo. I have a spare here so ill it that and see if it's any better.

Hopefully more updates tomorrow.

I ended up using the 406 bottom one with the 306 gti6 top mount. You can also use an xm bottom mount, with the mi16 top mount. But the bottom part is hard to find

That was just a mount u chopped to mount the engine at that time. No mate it's really not that hard. As long as you can read a wiring diagram you should be able to do it no problems.
