Small Brakes

I'm finally going to get my car rolling and i have the challenge of the front brakes. I plan to use the standard 247mm discs as these should be adequate for the cars weight but I need a solution for calipers. The whole package will need to get under 13" PTS wheels. If I can get a slim design caliper then all should be good. Something like a 2 pot caliper will do for starters, but the Lotus ones are more for larger disc designs.

I'm thinking of looking at what people fit to the old style minis though I want lightweight aftermarket rather than metro brakes..

check rwd escort brakes :)

they tend to run small wheels and 4 pots with discs roughly the same size as pugs

Looks exactly what I need. I'd better start saving. They are certainly the shallowest fitting I have seen so far :D Going to download that template to see the biggest disc I can squease under there. I'm guessing a 260mm floating disc will be lighter than a smaller 247mm standard type vented one..

I'm thinking of going the 13" route too, due to the availability of the 13" slicks and the scarcity of 15" :-/

Has anyone tried to run a mi16 aggressively on a track with slicks with such tyres? What brake options did you use? I am reluctant to ttry the standard 247 setup. The wilwood midilite calipers seem suitable for the task..

Well I couldnt get the 13" wheels to fit over the modified hubs so the pressure is off and a 266 two piece disc will be used. As for the wilwoods. Make sure you spec them right as they are prone to flex apparently...

What modifications you got to the hubs (front or rear)?

Does this mean you can sell me the rims?
