It's been on the rollers mate, goes really well, but it has a strange idle straight from cold, it's ok once warmed up a little. Going ITB's and a different tuning center next year!

It's been a while since my last update and apologies to all for the disappearance of the vast majority of hosted photos!

The 16v conversion has been a great learning curve for me, not least the learning of how the settings work on the DTA software, and best of all it's transformed the car into a great fun drive :)

Time for an update :D

On Sunday evening I bought a set of AT Power ITB's (after two failed attempts to buy a set on Facebook marketplace). I'm really happy with them, the bodies came with injectors and a fuel rail.

Fitted and now awaiting for regulator and fittings to arrive - hopefully be able to fire it up on the weekend :)

Hmmmm.....shiny cnc bits. Looks sweet.

What DTA issues did you have in setting up. Interested to hear, ran DTA S60 pro on clio200. And looking at a DTA device  going forward.

Hi mate,

The issues I had were purely down to me not having a clue in the beginning.

Did a lot of reading and got there in the end with it, I was lucky a mate was running an S40pro with a J4, so that gave me a basis to get the car running well enough to get the engine run in before having it mapped.

I found asking questions on the DTA forums returned answers like (RTFM) and general assumptions in replies that newbie's like me knew as much terminology as the resident experts did. There were  couple of people that tried to fend off the negativity but I decided I'd had enough at that stage and logged out for the last time and never went back on there.

Yeh can understand that, I had some initial set up queries with the Renault F4R engine, however I got plenty of help directly from  DTA   and with allot of homework ( cam position for VVT) I finally got there like you. Sense of satisfaction when the motor topped over 200horses.

Another update :)

After fitting the AT's I couldn't wait to fire it up and hear how they sounded, so I fitted the standard fuel rail and fired it up. They sounded great, they also made it a lot smoother to drive, more responsive and definitely feels like it has a bit more torque lower down.

Last weekend I purchased an air filter and a Satchell fuel pressure regulator holder to prepare for using the CNC machined fuel rail that came with the bodies, unfortunately I am still waiting for the fuel pipe fitting to arrive!

Progress so far;

Jobs left to do are fitting the Satchell reg holder and fit the fuel pipe AN6 elbows.

Looking good.......however permission to ask some stupid questions.....

What is said chrome shiny box next to O/S wing/ engine mount?

Why are people leaving heavy batteries within engine bay and not moving to lighter  batteries within cabin?

Hello!

No such thing as stupid questions....... :)

The shiny box is an auxiliary fuse box, it houses the fuel pump fuse, both rad fan fuses, a spot lamp supply fuse, interior lights (road rally car LED bright lights for map plotting etc...) fuse, and a combined boot/under bonnet lights fuse.

I've had a few people ask me as to why the lead acid battery is still fitted under the bonnet, rather than a gel battery positioned in the boot etc... The answer is simple, I have no plans to relocate it at the moment mate, its on the to do list, but I have other jobs to carry out such as electric power steering and gearbox work :)

It's been a while...... but here's another update :)

After lusting after a Satchshift system for the 205 I finally bought one and fitted it a couple of months ago, a very good quality item that wasn't too bad to fit. The only nervy part was drilling the hole in the bulkhead!

It's transformed the gear change and feels great to drive the car!
