Personally I wouldn't worry to much. Id just turn the thing off.

 

Had one or two car's ive worked with and as soon as they hit the pitlane they switch the engines off. Pushing the car isn't really that much of a big deal.

 

If you really dont want to push then let it cool down for a while.

 

60 Psi in my opinion is fine, 50 Psi is fine, infact id run anything with 45+ Psi at idle.

Well it goes quite high when cold, and running around town etc. Just on long, fast runs it goes low.

 

Unless there is some electrical interaction between the oil temp gauge going up and the oil pressure gauge going down?

 

More likely the actual pressure surely? I'm gonna change the oil soon, after 1000 miles of running in, and maybe use something thicker.

I'm a bit of a novice on this, so bare with me, but if you were genuinely getting 0psi on a hot engine, wouldn't it have seized or self destructed by now?

Its a good point and on mine, although the gauge hits the deck, the low pressure light doesn't come on.

Indicating the gauge is fautly. Agh!

Just to update on this, I swapped my oil pressure sensor for one from an 8v engine that I knew showed good pressure and hey presto, I have good oil pressure, even when hot.

 

So before anyone starts panicking, try another sensor, but be warned, they are no longer available from Peugeot.

That would have been my first try (another sensor!).

 

The Mobil 1 Super 10/40 oil is fine IMO. I've used that since Castrol Magnatec 10/40 got too dear (used to paying £10.99+vat at Costco for 4.5l only a few years back), the Mobil 1 is about £11.99+vat there now.
