jeremy 68 Posted November 2, 2017 Basically I have got my wheels back from being powder coated and I'm less than impressed. However before I go back I just thought I'd ask as to how others have turned out. It's like there are some bits of crap in the spray, not lots but enough to notice. My gut instinct tells me they were not cleaned correctly. Any help or advice welcomed.
Anthony 1,000 Posted November 2, 2017 Picture paints a thousand words as they say... doesn't sound right from your description though.
Andy 105 1 Cars Posted November 2, 2017 It would be useful to see them. However, in my rather limited experience , wheels that are painted and lacquered tend to exhibit a better finish than straight powder coating . I have had wheels done both ways, and prefer the effect of the former, as powder coating can be slightly uneven . Andy
jeremy 68 Posted November 2, 2017 I agree Anthony. I will take some pics tomorrow. Is it possible to link to Facebook as not posted pics since photobucket wanted to anally shaft me! The finish is even just has some bits in it.

Leslie green 79 Posted November 2, 2017 One of mine had little some corrosion pits in the face of the alloy that made it look like sand under the powder coat when they were coated but only really noticeable when you look close ,they were all different colours before they went in and 2 had quite a bit of alloy corrosion and lifting paint, basically with powder coat it seems if you put in perfect wheels you get out perfect wheels ., I got another set done that were really good before/had never been painted before etc and they came back near perfect even though they were about 35 years old. Tom Fenton 1,518 Posted November 2, 2017 It depends how good the powder coater is I've had absolutely mint sets of wheels back from the place I use
ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted November 3, 2017 The Powder coater I use in Castleford (Midas touch) is a perfectionist and I couldn't recommend him highly enough. he would also redo any rectification work if you were not happy.
Alan77 78 1 Cars Posted November 4, 2017 I used The Wheel Specialist in Bournemouth. My 1.9 speedlines went in pretty average and came out flawless. I asked them to use the Peugeot EVE colour so they were exact. Three years later and still mint, I've only ever wiped them with a damp mf cloth.
Andy 105 1 Cars Posted November 4, 2017 Which makes my experience of a company in Lincoln less than stunning. The finish was o.k but not flawless, which implies , Jeremy , that you have had a rather second rate job given the experience of others on here
Tesstuff 222 Posted November 4, 2017 I also had a recent lower end experience on a set of wheels with pitting. He tried a second time but only a small improvement so did them half price. But even at half price I won't use them. They may be fine for someone else.
jeremy 68 Posted November 8, 2017 (edited) Sorry no pics yet....I'm very naughty.... I took the worst one back and they agreed straight away it was not good enough. Going to see how it comes back before I take any of the others back as by comparison they are much better. Edited November 8, 2017 by jeremy
Tom Fenton 1,518 Posted November 8, 2017 With powder coating unless they sand and fill you get back what you send. If they are really bad and/or you want them mint, then wet paint gives good results https://flic.kr/p/21g19aW
