ok, so a little update...

 

i installed a new leather gaiter

i bought and replaced the front washer tubes

 

​

 

​

 

i replaced the rear inner arch trim (the one that i had holes in it)

bought some black paint and WD40 (which is great for cleanning plastic trim by the way)

 

 

 

paint...

it was grey before

 

​

 

 

​

 

​

 

​

 

​

 

i recieved the CORRECT thermostat this time

 

​

 

i couldn't find a washer pump in reasonable price so i decided to fix it (the nossle was glued)

 

​

 

 

got some AC goodies ​

 

front AC radiator

 

​

 

 

compressor (BEFORE CLEANNING)

 

​

 

AND AFTER...

 

​

 

the engine bay after cleanning it , installing the front washer tank and the scuttle panel installed -WOW even i was surprised ​

 

​

 

 

new centre console with all tabs intact

 

​

 

i bought a new dizzy kit and a relay for the front driving light - all genuine bosch

 

​

 

i fixed my heater control unit - the center cog was broken so i swap it and greased everything up....

 

​

 

 

washed the spare wheel and painted it's holder

 

​

 

​

 

​

 

 

the dashboard and all the plastic panels installed

 

​

 

 

and the seats installed (it's a shame that i don't have the proper half leather seats - in Israel they are VERY rare...and to import will cost a fortune )

Coming along nicely. Shame the seats let it down. Can you not save on import costs by having just the gti covers sent to you, seeing as you have the correct shape seats?

the seat are from 205 GL it's the same shape but... i don't have the side lever that tilt the seat and the bolsters are shot - by the time that i'll but the covers and bolsters and get a new frame i rather import the seats as one unit.

Fair enough. I've bought seats in that way before and asked for the good bolsters to be cut off and sent with them. Means I've been able to rebuild some sets to a good quaily. Will still work on your old frame too, just making it more difficult to get into the back. Overall good progress made since you've had it!

long time i didn't update, so here it goes....

if finished phase 1 of the rebuild which is to restore almost everthing to original (mostly the plastics and dash) and to solve all the mechanical and electrical issuse that i had. now the engine runs P-E-R-F-E-C-T-L-Y!!! the next stage will be MOT and to drive it for a while....

the next phase will be the final and it will include :

 

*to get the half leather seats

*to replace the broken plastic pieces

*to do a full bare-metal full body respray include the engine bay , front grill , and valances

*power coat the original wheels and put new tyers.

* to paint and install the body plastic trims with the red stripes.

*replacing the front and rear bumpers - they are cracked

*replace some of the sunroof plastics , rear spoiler

* install the rear tailgate trim and the new badges

 

this is mostly it...i think... ​

so, what i did from the last update...good question...

 

i've cleaned oil and restore my distributor with new genuine cap, clean rotor arm and new buttom o-ring.

the new o-ring

bought the genuine distributor cover to protect it from moisture and dust

 

​

 

bought a set of body trims with red inserts in good condition - this is AFTER i cleaned them and straighten the bent red strips

 

​

 

bougth a BRAND NEW AFM - i was very lucky to find one in a good price.

 

​

 

bought complete lockset with one key - i have now 3 keys to everything and for two locks i don't even have the keys .

 

​

 

bought some plastics that was missing when i bought the car

 

​

 

one of the door's centeral locking motors was broken so i bought a new set - just in case. and i was right to do so because i discover that the motor of the driver's door (which was working fine) was not original.

 

​

 

i install the rebuild distributor and the new AFM and of course the cover

 

​

 

and START IT UP... the engine is purring BEAUTIFULLY ​

another update

 

about a 1.5 month ago, i thought i was ready for the MOT but when i went to my mechanic he diagnose bad wishbone , bad rear shocks and the exhaust...well... he said that i might won't pass the MOT with it.

i bought original LEATHER steering wheel in good condition

 

​

 

a pair of febi wishbones (the closest to the genuine peugeot as possible IMO) - i figure it's good idea to replace them in pairs

 

​

 

i got the last plasticare in the UK i think ​ last batch from the forum

i got at ridiculous price a pair of febi trailing arm (11.5 quid each) - GREAT quality by the way

 

​

 

i pulled apart the rear drums and check the condition of the brakes - it was great, almost looks brand new.

 

​

 

 

i checked the bearing as well and one side was none original bearing

 

​

so i ordered a genuine set

 

​

 

i bought silicone paste and copper grease to the brake job i'm planning

 

​

 

replace a worn up mirror handle

 

​

 

and remove the inside mirror trim - strangely, both of them was the same side (both right side i think) . no wonder they was loose and glued with silicone

 

​

 

i replaced some cracked rubber fuel line with a new one - just in case...

 

​

 

bought some heat resistance paint to paint the front caliper before i rebuild them and red and yellow for the rear beam

 

​

 

got the bosal rear silencer i've order

​

 

i planning to replace the clutch because the biting point is WAY too high and i saw a good deal for a new genuine cable - so why not ​

 

​

 

got some brand new valeo fog light - for free (full refund from ebay becasue of listing mistake)

 

​

 

and last but not least a NEW rear tailgate trim

i manage to put my hand on original set of gti seats.
