Had a couple of hours free this eve and changed from the 106 gti coil to a 106 rallye one. Used bosch b830 ht leads. It was all plug and play

Very nice! What was the purpose in changing from the 16V coils to the 8V one?

Do you get any rubbing on the rear arches? I'm running 185 section tyres on the later rallye steels on mine and get slight rubbage when cornering hard (But then I do have standard 19mm torsion and ARB's!)

It's just so the coil doesn't get as hot, where the 16v coil is right above the head, the 8v one you can put anywhere! My 16v one was slowly breaking down as well, so gained a little reliablity and smoother running over the old coil pack!

Yea I have the same, 185 60's (think they are 60's). It rubbed a lot to begin with as it is quite low, but I rolled the arches out and they have been fine ever since, unless you hit a huge bump!

Nope, no where near. Also low enough that they aren't in the way when I get in, or foul the winders. Even the interior light fits!

Only down side is you have to cable tie the sunvisors up, and chop the handles off the mirrors.

So,

About time I have updated this thread. A lot of track days and a few engines later I have taken the leap and built myself a forged engine with Jenveys.

Mapped and Setup by Sandy Brown himself!

Vid on the rollers

Few more pics

Cheers Kane, It has Wossner forged pistons, PH4 cams with newman springs, the jenvey ST's, light headwork and a dynamic balanced bottom end. Usual bits like ACL bearings and a good old tidy up!.

Sounds good, is that standard bore? What sort of power did Sandy manage to get out of it in the end?

0.5mm oversize kane. No real numbers to be honest, did see 162 at the wheels at 7k though, so it seems to be bang on for spec. Sounds the part!
