While you're at it, buy also a decent jack.

if you get one of those jacks, take the handle of and weld a wheel nut in its place, then use your impact wrench (if you have one, if not a its a good investment) and wizz the car up and down in seconds! not my idea btw seen it in use and its very effective! B)

Been busy at the weekend fitting and plumbing in a vertical hydraulic handbrake.

Fitting and plumbing it was the easy part, I'm struggling to get it working properly at the moment, but I'm sure it'll get sorted! Anyhoo, here's a couple of pics of the new setup :)

Been really busy the last few days, taking the engine out of the car, ready to paint the engine bay, sort out the wiring harness etc, as well as removing the head for overhaul and fitting of the new camshaft.

Here are a few pictures of what's been happening so far...

Cheers Allye, glad your enjoying the project mate!

Been busy working on the engine bay today, what a long day it's been faffing about priming and painting the bay, and sorting out the wiring loom, that's half done, just need to get some more insulating tape in the morning, and just finish off painting the last bit of the inner front panel!

A few more pictures...

Going to have to wait until Wednesday to put a new distributor oil seal, rocker baffle spacer and rocker cover gasket once the Peugeot dealer is open.

Tomorrow, I'll be setting the rocker gaps, fitting some cooling bandage onto the manifold and fit the engine into the car, so I can change Oil and filter and put some nice new gearbox oil in!

I didn't get the engine fitted today, due to various stuff taking most of my time today, but, I did manage to get the manifold fitted and tidied a lot of other odds and ends!

hi mate i really like this thread mainly as the same engine as i have in mine.

Was the engine loom difficult to sort out? Think i may need to do something like that to mine( could fix the lack of starting ) :)

Hi matey,

The engine loom wasn't difficult to do. All I did was strip the old lagging and tape off, and made better sense of how things came out of the main loom like the headlamps, indicators etc.... then I re-taped them nicely to finish it off.

The only tricky part of it for me, was that the engine was out, so I had to be careful that all the cables would reach the terminals properly!

P.S I was going to reply to your own thread regarding the 4-2-1 manifold.

I bought a 106 8v Manifold on ebay and had it fitted in the local exhaust center, the thing you need to bear in mind is that the two pipe section of the manifold needed to be heated and moved slightly towards the gearbox side, and then cut after the two join into one to fit the curved piece onto it.

If I remember correctly, all done it cost me around £150.

Hope that helps!

Cheers :)

Got the engine in the car today, and it started first time once I'd connected the King Lead [left it off to turn the engine over to make sure the oil light went out first].

Well chuffed with today's progress!

Got a fair few things to do tomorrow, Strut brace, fit pull cord for autolec cut off as well as other bits and bobs.

More pictures :D

Thanks gents, I'm happy with the way it's going!

The plan is to get it logbooked and out on the stages at the last quarter of this year, once I have bought all the safety gear which costs a small fortune......lol!

Nice! Engine bay looks great, is it lumpy because of the cam?

Hi allye,

Glad you like the engine bay!

The vid was taken on the first start, it's lumpy due to the cam duration, and the idle wasn't set correctly at that time, but it's sorted now :)

Found a couple of videos of me competing on a PCA back in June last year, came second overall on this event and the one after, beating off two 2.0 16v Astras and three Pug GTi's :D
