making great progress james keep it up mate .one thing why have you faced your plenub box thingy out to the left woulndt it have been easier to spin it round so the inlet is facing the turbos. less pipe work

looks great anyways mate .

The pipe work is going to go from the turbos(passanger side), through a intercooler which is mounted in the bumper, then up and into the plenum (drivers side). Am I missing something? things are easy to overlook.

Thanks

James

I'm trying to keep the pipe work to a minimum to lower the volume the turbos have to pressurise.

As far and the plenum is conserned, it was designed on solidworks and i'm waiting on tapered bellmouths. ill post the cfd results if anyone is interested, its very interesting as i have achieved almost no differential in ve across the cylinders, diffuser plate still has to be installed though!

Thanks

James

Loads more work over the last few days!! Unfortunately I re gapped the rings because i wanted a little more clearance but when i put them back in i broke the compression ring!! I now have to wait 2 weeks for the new ring to be shipped from America!

Anyhow there is only one way to describe progress!!.....

406 cable gear linkage in it round about position, fed up of gear linkages dropping off, bending or getting in the way!

Thanks

James

This looks like you have a mohican of some kind! Please tell me you haven't? B)

Have I missed something or have you not strengthened your turret top mounts? I have a feeling this powerplant is going to be a source of many new forces on certain parts of your vehicle.

I believe people will move out of your way on track, sh1t scared of the bloody noise it makes. :)

In the above post I meant wasnt touching the pole!! :P

Little progress today started making room for the exaust, and finished mounting up the intercooler rad assembly. I got a little carried away and got the front end mocked up.

How cool!! Eventually we will cover the turbo to get us through MOT, but for track day :) :)

I know the paint is s*ite, it will be all nice and flattened!!

Thanks

I Know I'm well impressed, not sure if it was going to look s*it, but I really think it suites the look!! :P

I've been on a course for the last 2 days so had zero energy or inclination to do anything. Despite is I've managed to do some work on the gear linkage!

25283_377294446838_700946838_3484172_5034687_n.jpg

No word of a lie there is around 4" of space between the bulkhead and the manifold and in parts 5" for the down pipe, Im really impressed and really proves to worth of CFD!!

25283_377294256838_700946838_3484169_5787149_n.jpg

standard!! :D

25283_377294126838_700946838_3484168_741563_n.jpg

Started on making a bracket to hold the cables in the correct place. I'm trying to archive zero flex in any of the linkage as I hate imprecise gears B)

Thanks

James

Am i missing something or is the big turbo feeding the smaller turbo should it not be the other way round to help spool the big turbo?

Looks bloody insane either way though!

To be honest i'm not 100% sure, there seems to be a lot of different opinions. Simulations didnt really show any gain either way so it just made plumbing easier this way.

I know that the anti surge housings don't work well when not around 100kpa, i think a little bit of experimentation is required!!

Thanks

James

Hi James, Looks like its coming along nicely, any more progress with the gear linkages?

I've had to start again :) unfortunately the 406 linkage box hung down to low to fit a 4" exaust pipe under there so im having to mount the whole unit in the car,

apart from that on a std application it would work very well, ive just got to figure how not to melt my cables!! :)

thanks

As always more progress today, simon has been cutting sheet steel up for gussets and ive been making the down pipe.

I've run out of flap discs so ill have to wait to grind the welds nice and smooth!!

24753_378589136838_700946838_3509188_8037488_n.jpg

The pipe comes out the bottom of the car in the middle perfectly, this car was ment to be twin turboed!!

Thanks

James
