406 cable gear linkage in it round about position, fed up of gear linkages dropping off, bending or getting in the way!

Thanks

James

Forgive me if it has been covered already, but the cable gear linkages....

I am trying to do a BE cable shifter conversion, but cannot find out what the exact parts are that I need. You say you used 406 cables and gear stick; what brackets did you use on the gearbox (what car did they come from)?

Just trying to get the right parts the first time round.

Thanks very much,

Alex

I would think he's using an ML box which uses cables already.

Or some magical gearbox made from unobtanium and witchcraft to harness the 1000bhp or whatever the engine makes..... :P

Unfortunatly i was using facebook to host the photos, they have changed the links unfortunatly.

Its a 406 linkage onto a GTI6 box the cables are the correct length i clipped them on and just made a bracket up. One major problem is that is the pattern is reversed (down for 1st up for 2nd) which is fixable and i drew up a linkage but converted to rwd.

Thanks

James

Ok, 406 linkages on a 306 gearbox, sounds good. Any pictures of the bracket that you made please?

I understand you are running a BE3 gearbox with cable shifter?

Where did you get the brackets for the gearbox from, ie, a 406, 806, 208 etc.

I want cable shift on my car (a BE1 but still possible), and I know the 406 gear stick works well, so its just the brackets I am struggling with.

Thanks very much,

Alex
