No its the OEM part number the diference is that peugeot stop doing it in black all header tanks are white now :)

The header tank is a diesel part and the part number is 1303 73 it was only £23.61 including the VAT. Not bad for peugeot really!

 

I wasn't aware they didn't make the black ones anymore as i wanted a white one so i could physically see how much fluid was in there instead of having to take the top off, find a torch which had some batteries and then realise i had no coolant. I always thought it was stupid changing from the phase 1 clear header tank to the phase 2 black.

 

I also find it odd Peugeot no longer have any header tank caps available. So I got mine from Autofive.

 

Hopefully this week I will get the tyres fitted to my wheels, rebuild the rear beam and finish off the front suspension meaning it might be a rolling shell soon! by the way does anyone know where to get some cheaper NEW 1.9 wheel bolts? pug want a fiver per bolt :)

Ed, a decent motor factor should be able to get you wheel bolts in whatever size or shape you like, well worth a try. :)

I had been thinking about that. I might look into it. The header tank didn't even come with the nuts that fix it onto its mounts let alone the sensor. The sensor is £43 so i cleaned up my old one and will use that ;)

Well today was a busy one, I rebuilt my beam and was surprised at how easy it all went. Well i'm not really that surprised as all the parts were either refurbed or brand new but it was pleasing putting it all back together with no mishaps. I spent the previous day cleaning up and painting the torsion bars. I went for the lairiest bright red i could find, gave it at least 4 coats then 3 coats of laquer for good measure. I was going to have them powder coated but i'm impatient at times and wanted to get the beam together today :o

I used the guide on the main website for a pointers and basically just took my time greasing all the bits up i might need to take apart in time. It does look mint i must say! :o even though once its on its wheels nobody will see it :D:)

So once i was happy everything was nipped up tight and all the parts were in the correct places i decided to bolt it back on the car on my own which wasn't easy to say the least. I'd forgotten how much these things weigh once they are complete but with a little help from my old man to start the fixing nuts from above while i held the beam up i soon had it in place and torqued up ;) (sorry for the s*ite pictures camera phone i'm afraid)

I even got round to fitting the passenger side caliper and disc. Picked up my new handbrake cables today too.

I 'think' the right one has a metal sleeve and the left one a plastic. I will check them and get back to you.

Well seeing as my parents still seem to be playing ball over the use of there garage i will take as long as possible B) I'd imagine sometime this year it might be in some sort of a finished state :D How's your Topaz?

The old girl is still going strong thanks :) Not bad to say she's used every day, and my route home most days takes me over 32 speed bumps! The exhaust is suffering as a result (grounds out on quite a few of them) and the dampers are nearly shot (not helped by well over 100KG of ICE), but she's still far too much fun to consider selling B) I think after nearly 3 years of ownership though, it's about time I treated it to a service :)

Lol, yeah. It was my resolution last year, but it never happened :lol:. Mind you, it's still at my old workplace, so I'm hoping he hasn't sold it!

Glad to hear your not going to sell her Andy. Although I was having a mad thought about selling my white Mi the other day and getting a Civic Type R. Afterwards I went out for a quick drive in the pug and soon forgot about the Honda :(:D

I'm in the same boat as you too with a shot front shock.

A quick update. Finally got round to changing the cambelt on the '6' engine. Using the cambelt guide on the 306 forum it was dead easy. I was pleased to see how clean the old water pump was and the gasket came off in one piece. Well it has only done 22k !! A couple of pics of old and new ;)

Even though the old parts are generally unused in engine terms I wasn't willing to risk massive engine failure with the most important part of the lump. So thats now done. Need to get a Mi16 clutch next . .

 

By the way cybernck the passenger side handbrake cable has a plastic sleeve and the drivers side has a metal sleeve :wub:

Although I must admit to being tempted by one myself....

 

The new job's great, as I get to have a quick blast in all sorts of new stuff. Just in the small 'hot hatch' category, I've tried the CTR, Fiesta ST, Clio 182, and the Corsa VXR. I'm trying to blag a ride in one of the 207CC's we've got, but as they're brand spanking new, they don't want us joyriding ;)

 

Sorry for going O/T yet again... :lol:

 

 

Back on topic - are you keeping a track of your budget on this, or would you rather not know, lol. I won't pry and ask for figures, but I'm just curious as to whether it's roughly within what you were expecting, or has it just done the usual, and snowballed out of control? :wub:

To be honest I never really set myself a budget and always intended to replace pretty much everything, so I roughly expected it to snowball out of control :P

 

I am using as much of the old parts as possible but when I look at the car and how mint it looks from the outside I don't see the point in fixing crappy old parts back on. I have managed to save some money in some places like re-furbing the driveshafts I had instead of buying new, etc etc

 

The way I look at it as I'm lucky enough to have a garage with no time limit, if I can't afford to buy (rear shocks and Mi16 Clutch) this month I'll get them next month :unsure:

Whoaa... I'd like to say something on budget matters... Rebudgeted my project each year... And that's no snowball but avalanche! :P:lol:
