Which Performance Exhaust Manifold And System

Recommended Posts

spike

I'm currently building a 1.9 Gti engine to run on throttle bodies and was wondering what stainless steel exhaust manifold and system you chaps would recommend?

It would have to be 2.25" diameter to make best use of the cam and head.

Cheers

Mike

off the shelf there's only the Magnex, but these have not been available new for quite some time, though many far east made copies have been made, have to say with a far better flexible joint on the end of them!

These are only 2" though are thinner wall stainless steel, I doubt many will really need the extra quarter of an inch on a 1.9 8v, they work perfectly fine on high 170's 8v engiines and mildly tuned 16v 2.0's.

beyond that it's the likes of Maniflow, and many many more, for a custom made item, I'd highly recommend mike Edwards.

Thanks for that.

What system? I can only find Piper or Milltek.

I should have a magnex manifold available soon Mike if you're interested but I've also seen this one on ebay.

Thanks Graham, I saw that one on eBay.

I'll ask my customer if he wants a used manifold. When would it be available?

As I said above, i'm struggling to find a system as well. Any ideas?

Welshpug is right!

Plus this is for a road car, not a competition car!

I'm also look for a 2.5" stainless 2 box system and found that Des Developments did this system in the past.

Anyone know it they are still in business? Site seem to be down.

Any suggestion for other off-the-shelf 2.5" 2 box system is also welcome...

Why bother with stainless then?

unfortunately DES hasn't been trading for a while, they closed up to follow other interests.

Miles does a few systems.

Because that's what my customer wants!

Mike, I had a look today & as I seemed to remember the joint springs are missing but I was going to get a new flexi joint fitted (like I have on the one on my car now) & lambda point anyway so i wasn't bothered although I'm sure this is easily solved with some suitable springs on the standard ball joint.

If they want a s/h manifold, it's ready to go anytime you want.

What system has Jamie got on his car? Iirc it's an Ashley system he got through Skip Browns but might not be stainless.
