Oil Cooler Hose Seals/ Cam

Recommended Posts

happypatrol

I'm still at snails pace rebuilding my 1.9. It's getting there now.

I've got to put the oil filter sandwich plate back in and noticed the two o rings inside are completely shot and out of shape.

Does anyone know the size they should be or know where I can buy some ???

Second question is.

Does the cam/rocker cover have seals under neath the three securing bolts ???

I really think

There should be something to stop the oil going up through the bolts but don't appear to have any seals in my rebuild kit. Any advise as always appreciated.

I will get this car going again if it kills me. There's nothing I've not replace now ????

On the sandwich plate do you mean the large seal that goes on the face of the block or the two small ones on the hose ends?

Either can be obtained for pennies from any hydraulics supplier.

In the cam cover I've seen cars with a copper washer under the bolt. But on all of mine they seal fine with just the standard bolt and washer.

Hi Tom.

Yes. I mean the two small ones that seal the hoses. Mine have literally perished to nothing so looking for new ones. It's hard to guess a size though. As I know there are a load of choices in size.

I wasn't sure about the cam cover.

Now that u mention copper washers. I'm sure there was some small copper washes in my rebuild kit which I couldn't figure out what they were for.

Thanks for your help anyway.

I might need to get a few sides and see what fits best.
