Sent it back to the workshop for the winter.

List of things to do; new block, sort starting issue, new drivers' window reg (thanks to jackherer) and drivers' upper door hinge replacement. Easy...

took the dashboard out, exctacted the wiring looms and removed the alarm, granted it was all soldered and intact but thin gauge wires tapped into large power wires and wrapped in tape, URGH!!!

then removed the front lighting loom and fusebox and the heater box to access the sound deadening sheet on the bulkhead.

very little left of it now but still rolling and just about watertight

Got the car back out the garage and took it to work and left it in the corner of the workshop.

Been spending my lunch breaks removing and inspecting the breather hoses as I have an idle issue.

Ordered some new hoses from Stew at Baker BM which should be here tomorrow.

Gonna spend my lunch breaks this week refitting the hoses and fingers crossed should help sort the idle issue out. (Only taken 12 years of ownership to get round to sorting this!)

Replaced my rear windscreen wiper motor as it had worked intermittently for about the last 8 years. Works nicely now. Thought about washing the car, didn't wash it and went inside for a nap.

Stripped the MI that I broke back in May. That's a piston and rod shredded to bits.

Oil + filter

New exhaust rubbers

New exhaust gasket

Overhauled front brakes

I bought a 205 style a while back off a mate, it's lowered on Rallye rims, it originally came off a little old lady in Buxton post office, it was mega tidy and not messed with but it's stood outside for a few years and ended up covered in dents, solid tho and 80k on the clock

Update us as you how you get on with the hoses

Hoses all connected up and new seals round the injectors and the car sounds totally different and idles perfectly! Literally cant believe thats all it was!

Only snag is the inlet manifold gasket is leaking coolant. Any suggestions on how to rectify this?

Radweld!

god no! haha

take the inlet off, but drain the coolant first - else it will quickly make it's way down the inlet ports!

you can either tap and fit a grub screw to the 2 holes, or a dab of sealant in them (the later more of a bodge though!)

generally a new inlet gasket is required when you take the inlet off - Peugeot items actually come with a little bit of a soft rubber already applied around the port shape. a non genuine item will benefit from a good smear of grease to help it seal (not something everyone will agree with, but I've always done it after being recommended to do it with the paper/fiber gaskets :) )

I had to use an aftermarket gasket as my local Peugeot dealer no longer lists them.

Would you smear both sides of the gasket with grease?

What bolts would you use to fill the hole? Dont the heads hit on the inlet manifold?

Do you know what length grub screw to use?

Doesn't need to be very long - think I used an M8 x 10mm grub screw to do mine, after drilling and tapping the hole obviously.
