Brake Pipe Lengths

Recommended Posts

Alastairh

Hello,

A little strage request. Does anyone have accurate data as to the length of the brake lines fitted to a 1.9 205 GTI? Basically i need to change all the brake lines on my sorrento 1.9 as its been parked up for a few years. The car is in storage at the minute a few miles away and what with having a flaring tool in my vice at home and all the fittings and pipe i was hoping to just crack on and make the pipes up here.

Otherwise i will get the tape measure out next week!

Cheers

Al

These are the length listed on servicebox, although I'd double check as a couple seem off to me - like the ones on the rear arms being 1.250m :

no probs :)

They actually all seem to be available still, though to do the whole car would be £200 bang on the nose!

I think a Tenner from the local motorfactor for a roll and a few unions would be preferable

edit;

well spotted Ryan, checking up on the 306 the lengths given are 723mm on the left and 743mm on the right, for the full length pipes on the later cars without the last flexi to the caliper.

Also working on renewing all brake lines, the picture isnt right i think...

No mention of the brake pressure regulators ?

Line 4 and 6 added up makes 320 cm..

What ARE the correct lengths ?

I recently replaced all my lines with CuNiFer ones. If I may give you one piece of advice: remove all the old lines from the vehicle and recreate the lines piece by piece. (and mark them)

Bending them is much easier if there is some "over-length".

I didn't trust the lengths on Servicebox. (neither have I bothered checking them though.)
